Good buy!
It is a WW1 era lighter. The style was popular among soldiers and many of this type (with various "scenes") were produced in Europe and sold to US soldiers.

Agree again with Scott, but for a different reason. I think this type of ignition system came after 1903.
thanks scott i looked on the internet for a pic of it but i could not find it this is the best thing i have found in a long time i am going to frame it and keep it
