Small wooden cabinet with Asian figures on doors

When I picked this up at the thrift store for a couple of bucks, it was VERY rough. Practically no sanding/polishing had been done. The doors were covered with this old flowered wallpaper that my daughter liked, so I was doing everything I could to sand around the paper, but finally I said ENUFF! and ripped the paper off. Imagine my surprise to see these figures painted on the doors!! There are no markings whatsoever on this cabinet, so I have no clue as to where it came from. It's not old, as there is a little plastic magnet inside to hold the doors shut. But all these stories come to mind as I'm sanding and refurbishing this old stuff... who made it? What does it mean? Maybe the doors are old and came from something else... who knows???
