I recently picked up this wall hanging because it was different BUT I didn't realize I could not figure out where it's from or even how old it is. I was told that it was an Aztec mask by the seller. Does anyone have knowledge of this. I would surely appreciate it.
Details:
Size: 11.25" x 7.5" x 1.75"
Weight: 2.6 lbs.
2 pieces of bone inlay on the head dress.
The reverse is signed in pencil "12P" (could be the owners inventory #?)
No idea what type of wood this is either...
Thanks for any help :)
Hi all. This was one of my first posts and my apologies to all who loved it, as I never responded. Can this be a better late than never???
Thank you all for giving the love! I have just picked this up again and still can not figure out the who, what, where and whens' about it. Frustrated!
Thanks for looking T.A.!
It is really a nice piece. It could be as suggested, but most South American countries had Africans introduced, so it could be a fusion piece, combining both South American and African cultural influences into one work of art.
