2nd items from the field - would love to know what it is and what era

When I dug this up, it had a huge amount of rust on it. I used electrolysis to get most of it off. I thought for sure this was a door hinge due to the shape. Once I started getting the gunk off, I could see that there was no loop for the pin and no adjoining piece. It has four screw holes, one of which is still rusted closed. A friend guessed it to be a door stop, but I have not been able to find a picture of one like this anywhere. This piece is 6" long by 1 5/8" wide and the side is 3/4" high. Again, like the other two items I'm posting, I am very interested as to the era of this piece, if that can be somewhat accurately guessed at. And of course I'd love to know what it is. I could not find a "Hardware" category, so I put it in Tools.
