Mixed Media on 100% neutral silk cloth with vibrant colored, beautifully decorated Japanese kimonas.
The detail is impeccable, and the surface has a silken luster which gives the costumes a life-like quality.

Beautiful art piece on extra thick silk with gorgeous colors. Printing was done by Black Box Collotype. Year published: 1988

Measures: 27 1/2" x 27 1/4". Hand signed and numbered by the artist. This piece is numbered 175/300.
In mint condition! Retails for well over $700.

Hisashi Otsuka left his Japanese homeland for Hawaii, seeking the artistic freedom he couldn't find in Japan. Western culture appealed very much to him, and he wanted to combine this with traditional Japanese culture in visual expressions that would enhance these two distinct points of view.

Otsuka is schooled in Zen and the martial arts, and the warriors code of discipline and duty is one he lives and works by. He believes that life and art create each other. His balance of Eastern and Western artistic sensibilities, as well as meticulous skill, have lead him to worldwide recognition. He has exhibited at one man shows in Hawaii, New York, London, Paris, San Francisco, Tokyo. He has earned high praise, and his art can be found in public and private collections throughout the world.
