I have a Pattern Glass Ref. book on American Table Sets that depict a Butter Dish and Sugar with Lid in a pattern very similar to this one but there is etching on the items shown. The name for this pattern is simply ADAMS & COMPANY Pattern #75 with no OMN and the name "SQUARE" is given. The date of Manufacture is 1882 to 1887. My compote is very similar but it has a design of checkered lines under-base on the foot. This is a Huge compote measuring 13 1/2" tall by 7 1/2" across and it has a purplish-pink tinge possibly from the Manganese in the glass formulation that was commonly used in the 1880's to the early 1910's. I haven't been able to find this pattern in my other Pattern glass ref. books. I hope that Tallcakes will be looking at it so that we can find out all about it. The size probably explains why it is in such excellent condition....difficult to carry around. RER(BOB)

one book I have says Adams & Co. #75 Square, c.1882; AKA: Post.
one ref. site has it as Post with Square Panes as an AKA; but they sometimes get OMNs and AKAs confused. So I'd go with the info as you state as correct as known. And yes, manganese can contribute to 'sun-purpling' when exposed to sun for very long periods; It'll have a soft glow under black light.

Thanks Tallcakes....I always appreciate your input. Would other "tall" items in this pattern have the checkered base? Thank you nutsabotas6 for your love and comments and thanks vetraio50, tom61375 and mikelv85 for the love. BOB

you're welcome BOB. Yes, the cake stand has the same square post stem and rayed 'checkered' foot.
