      The takeover of the Mint by Binion's Horseshoe in 1988 was a lot more significant than a lot of people realize. It wasn't until the Mint was acquired that Binion's Horseshoe had a permanent poker room. Up until then, the World Series of Poker timeframe was the only time that the Horseshoe ran a card room.

      The Mint had an awesome sign in front, too. I miss that.
