Found this little filthy treasure at my local flea market. 5 bucks.
It is chalkware from Prelude Creations dated 1973. It has some noticeable repairs and some needed repairs. There is a felt covering on the bottom . I love chalkware items,, I have a nice Esco Al Jolson ,,especially oddball types. I cannot find any information on this company on the internet which is very strange. One blog entry I read said that there were 4 in a set from Prelude Creations , a slot machine,,a roullette table and a craps table. This is 3 distinctive characters playing blackjack against a blue sunglass wearing dealer. Very heavy and colorful. Apparently a glass ashtray was placed in the rounded area and I believe these might have been sold in Las Vegas at the Alladin casino. Hope you enjoy. Any addtl info would be appreciated.
Thanks for the love,, .
these characters look strikingly familiar......oh I know, these were my buds back in the day :-)....just razzin.... This is right up my alley... love it.
The figures are amazing. I have to take one of the dealer thats a lil better. His sunglasses are actually a sky blue. The "lady" has a nice um er fuggetabout it. I ll take a picture. Glad u enjoy.
Always used to work for me too!...:-)))..
Thanks for the love Kerry and Inky :)
Thanks for the love Sean, glad you like it.
You are missing the glass insert ashtray. Back when I was collecting ashtrays these were difficult to find. You did OK at $5.
Thanks for the comment fhjr2. I didnt realize it was an ashtray till I got it home. I figured I could use just about any ashtray that fits. Glad you like it.
The glass inserts always broke and were replaced. You should be able to find one pretty easily. You will find these from many different sports also. Good condition you would get around $40 for your $5 investment. Condition is all important as with all things.
Thanks for the love Manikin and Nutsabotsa
Ah.We sit well!
I have the slot machine; My grandmother and grandfather bought it when they went to Las Vegas in the late 70's. The company is out of New York, I googled them and found out that they are still in business. I am curious to what mine is worth. not that I am getting rid of mine, because like I said it was my grandmothers. just want to know what it is worth.
We also have a piece from this collection we can not find any info about it except in your post we have the piece with 4 people around the roulette table any info on this would be unappreciated
Thanks for the comments everybody.
