large crockery planter with relief designs

another planter w/ no drainage holes in it. i have no idea what they were thinking as every living plant needs to have some drainage in a container. this appears to have some age and is made of quality crockery stoneware. i can't quite tell what the figures are, but they look like vegetables, maybe? any ideas who made it and when?
