Great find!
Ty SteveTx76 don't know what to do with it yet any suggestions?
This is a lovely flat top trunk for the early 1900's. In my books, due to the poor shape of the canvas, it would be a good candidate for a refinish and not a restoration. Taking the canvas off of a trunk like this is relatively simple, and the pine body underneath always looks good exposed. There are sites that offer tips on how to do the work and if necessary I could give you a couple of pointers. This is a common style and type of trunk for its day, and many companies made this same or similar model. It is great that there is still some leather strapping and handles left on it -- usually they are long gone. This trunk has very nice end caps and corner pieces and well as two nice brass lid guides at the front as well as nice brass guides for the leather straps-- a sign of a slightly higher quality trunk. Triple bonus points if you have the key....
trunkman...
Wow Thank you that is great Do u know possibly what it could be worth as is?
Honestly price varies depending on regions -- should be enough info on local adds and ebay to give an idea -- not a huge value as they are rather common.
Thanks what a great way to find info on these things.... Your great thanks again
My pleasure -- feel free to ask if there is anything I can help you with,, I have refinished a lot of trunks along the way and I am always satisfied with the results...
great to meet ya!
