This original oil on canvas painting, measuring 28 x 38 inches, was located at the Green Flea Market, located on 77th street and Columbus Ave. NYC, N, Y.
Having no knowledge of the artist, I purchased this painting because of it's subject matter this past Sunday (June 2, 2014).
It was my assumption that the subject matter was of African decent, possibly in the Caribbean Island.
The artwork is signed G Brynjulson in the lower right hand corner.
And upon further investigation, I discovered that it is an oroginal painting by Gerry Brynjulson.

    About Gerry Brynjulson

Gerry Brynjulson was born in North Dakota in 1921 and served in the Pacific during World War II. He earned a BFA at the University of Denver, where he minored in architecture. He subsequently taught art in Denver secondary schools and at his alma mater. In the late 1950's he was offered a partnership in the construction of a small hotel on the island of Tobago, West Indies. During his 23 years on the island, every spare moment was spent capturing on canvas the beauty of his environment.

In the 1970's Brynjulson and his wife, Rolande, spent several summers in a renovated farmhouse south of Florence, Italy. There, the world of art opened up unlimited opportunities to observe and paint the simple lifestyle experienced in the small villages. Many of his oil paintings and watercolors reflect scenes of both countries.

Since 1986 the Brynjulson have been living on Marco Island. Morning hours are strictly devoted to painting or preparing for an upcoming show. Brynjulson is a member of the Naples Art Association, Art League of Marco Island, and the Naples Artcrafters.

To the collector who posted the original oil on canvas by Gerry Brynjulson.
My husband, created this oil painting while living on the island of Tobago.
The painting depicts a local black fisherman sitting on the beach repairing his fishing net. I have paintings and pencil drawings of local scenes while we lived on island.
Gerry passed away on June 4, 2015 , 13 days short of his 94th birthday.

I have a large original painting by this artist. It is of a red canoe on waves of light green. It is matted and framed. I’d sell it cheap to anyone who would pick up soon. Naples FL
