Eatonia blue steamer trunk with brass accents. Measures 36" long 21" high and 20" wide. The straps aren't leather. It seems like it could be cedar perhaps? I assume Eatonia is a brand from Eatons which was a huge department store chain at one time. There is a removable shelf. I inherited it from my neighbour who passed away at 100 this spring. Can I get some background info on this trunk specifically age, value, rare or whatever you can provide me with. Located in Winnipeg MB Canada.

I have one of these too..it has the wardrobe accessories and all labels.Eatonia.made in Canada...made by the T.Eaton company. LABELS Outside:1. Gilbraltarized in writing label. 2. EATONIA T.Eaton co. Canada (label).3.Langmuir Hartmann cushion top wardrobe trunk.made in canada(label) has monogrammed initials.Inside trunk: anchor type wood hangers as well as others and a clip in brief case..also on top where hangers are an extension bar that comes forward..paper pattern inside.on other side has drawers..so I believe your trunk was stripped to get to wood and this one has a real musty smell thatbis apparently from the wheat glue they used on the paper..to get rid of that theyvstrip and sand the interiors.I cannot find much info on the canadian made Eatonia trunk..but would like to hear more.hope that is helpful.I have to measure min..but large and heavy????

Mine is a larger trunk ..did not realize.Eatonia was a name the Eatons company used and there is a small town in Saskatchewanwhere I believe there was Eatons as well and was later named Eatonia..the same name as Eatons products already in production.there is a history of the railroad station.I am thinking these trunks may have been ones from that time 1922.believe the town was named Eatonia in 1921.As of 2006.the town had a population of less than 500..trying to connect some dots on this as well..but finding it interesting.still would like to look at some T.Eaton catalogues...with the Eatonia products and seeing how long the name was used on the products and if in fact these were used on the railway.would love to hear from anyone who has any info about these trunks.thanks ????

I just purchased an Eatonia trunk yesterday at Goodwill and googled it and found your comment. Found great info here. Mine is older than yours though. I will try to post a pic.
