You just gotta love these!!!
Made by Wade in 1961 for a company called Henry Stratton & Co.LTD a small British Distillery ..
sadly the distillery burnt to the ground before they could recieve delivery of these little gems so they were sold off to other company's even Boots the chemist !!
You can close in on one of my pictures and read the story..
Wade were commissioned to make 5 types , a parakeet a chick and a small medim & large penguin!
Over the years I have picked up these at cbs not paying more than £5 for any of them picking up the large penguin last week at cbs for £1.
At one time the book price for these ranged between £25 & £100 each.. they aren't marked at all and are quite rare in good condition , I just gotta get hold of the two small penguins to have the set! :-)
The colours are
Chick - yellow, black eyes, brown beak & toes, green/yellow base.
hope you like them as much as me :-)
penguin- lovely blues /greys /white ,green base.
cockatoo- white , yellow crest, green mottled base.
Wot a twit I am !!!! I wrote all the colours cos the book photos are black & white !! Forgot mine were in colour !! LLLLLLOOOOOLLLLLLL!!!

Ahem ..correct colour is "sulphur" as in "Sulphur Crested Cockatoo"! lol
These are fab. Don't you love it when you start to collect something before others work out they are worthwhile?

In that I breed and love birds how can I do anything but give these sweeties a love? While I breed and rescue birds, I never sell one. They all become family forever. You have a great start on a fun collection. Thanks for sharing.

You should be able to list by clicking add item , you can list 4 pics at a time ,some info ,catagory then save ;-)
