I am uploading this small Japanese Sandalwood Tobacco Box that we have had "forever" and that we picked up at a flea market during one of our early excursions. One of our new members "DaysiMeadows" has uploaded a similar decorated box and wanted to see my Tobacco Box to compare. This one measures 4 1/4" across by 2 1/4" tall, has a tiny recessed knob, the cover is carved with Japanese motifs that include mount Fujiyama and has a carved ring on the outside with flowers and leaves. The border has finely detailed ribbing above and below it. I think that it's a very old little tobacco box and is probably made of Sandalwood. RER(BOB)
Thank you jwendell222 for this info. Do you know what type of wood it is made of. RER(BOB)

Thank you jwendell222! I appreciate your knowledge and help. Sandalwood was a guess for me and Bamboo sounds quite reasonable.....certainly the right size. BOB
