I am looking for anyone who can tell me something about this Mickey Mouse doll. He is 12" tall from the top of his ears to the bottom of his feet. He used to sit on top of a cabinet at my grandparents house in KS when I was little for as long as I can remember and I am 46. I really do not know how old he is.
Trying to get history on this doll. There are no markings of a maker on him. I am not sure if he was a pattern that someone made but he seems to have wire in his arms and his pie eyes are pined on and looks to be made from oil cloth or something like it. His buttons are pearl and his feet are made of papermache but I am not sure about that. I have not been able to locate one like him searching on line or at the library in collectible books.

But can not confirm that info ??

I can confirm that your Mickey is a Knickerbocker, released late 1934/35/36. It's the second version of the Mickey Mouse doll designed by Charlotte Clark (for Knickerbocker). Identifying features being composition shoes and closed fingers. The earlier model had molded felt shoes and open fingers. The soft felt molded shoes made it difficult for the doll to stand and were replaced with these composition shoes. The early model of the composition shoe doll had the open fingers as well, making yours a later model - possibly 1935.
I should also add that he is missing his rubber hose tail, but other than that he is in quite nice condition, compared to many. Something I would definitely love to have for my Dad's collection!
