Jean Beck (1862-1938) was a ceramist, applied arts designer, and painter in Munich, who founded an applied arts distribution company (Jean Beck München) some time before 1898. After about 1908, he increasingly began to concentrate on glass design. Providers of his wares came from the familiar names in the Bavarian Forest. Poschinger, Glasfabrik Schliersee, and particularly Regenhütte were his primary sources for the execution of his designs. My most recent addition is this orange vase, which sports an original paper label that dates from 1925 to 1930. The yellow vase in the group photo has an acid stamped mark that covers the same range of dates. We can add Jean Beck to this list of companies who designed and sold "tango" type glass - with their own special flair, of course.
