First I thought this was a scottish or irish brooch. I hoped to get some help with this brooch and I really did, thanks idcloisonne! I think you are right, it seems to be french. If someone has seen similar brooches with the celtic eternity symbol or jewelry that has similarity please don't hesitate to write about it here, I'm always interested in learning more.
It is a small brooch, about 3,3 cm in diameter. I think it´s brass. The brooch has beautiful enamel in very clear and bright colors. It also has what looks like a celtic knot of some sort.
This is most likely a victorian piece, or I should say from La Belle Epoque. It has the c-catch and the tube hinge and the pin sticks out past the catch so that you are able to see the pin from the front. The pin has a little bend by the tube hinge, probably in order to allow for somewhat heavyweight fabric.
I love this brooch, it is small but exquisite. The distinct character in pattern and the fine enamel draws attention to it even if it is small.

Thank you idcloisonne, I see and think you are right. At first this brooch looked french to me but the celtic sympol of eternity made me think it was not. But maybe this symbols were overall popular or the brooch could be from Bretagne? Is it the style that makes you think it's late 19th?

What a pretty brooch, to me it is unusual at first I thought it may of been a snuff box until I opened the picture. Thank you for the show.

Going by the pin it seems to have some age from what I've read about the length of the pins
Hi Zowie, I agree. I think it's from around 1880-1900, but most likely around 1880 somewhere. The small size of the brooch, the lenght of the nedle as well as the tube hinge is signs of age. Idcloisonne has given some answers about the enamel, I'm not knowledge about enamel. Thanks for stopping by.
I do love the enamelling, it's a very attractive brooch.
I'm not knowledgeable on most things as learning but have come across some helpful tips I believe the C clasp that the pin hooks in is older then the ones that close over the pin. On this I could also be wrong. Have a safe & happy day

Hello Elisabethan, thanks for loving and I am very honored that you asked my opinion. I can say the following about your brooch. Although it does not say with certainty is the lack of marks I still think you brooch is Scottish.
Outside the literature (now very much, too much), I often help to images. So I always look like here, after typing text: antique Scottish jewelery on Googly images. Then I go look for similarities with that piece of jewelry that I would like to know more. See links:

Of course you know that the Scots many took advantage of Pebble stones. But I give a few examples in the left. The agreement here is not the stone but the decorative edges. Along with the symbols I still think in your case to a Scottish brooch. I'll hope to be of some help here.

Tanks Agram! When I saw your scottish jewellry I felt I had to maybe rethink this. I see the decoration in the links you sent and that's what made me first thinking of Scottland but then the enamel made me doubt it, but maybe that's also found in Scottland? Have you seen this type of enamel before? Do you think I'm right about the date on this? I have seen your other scottish jewellry now, so beautiful!

Hi again, just like you, I'm not sure it's Scottish. I've seen a lot enameled Scottish brooches but most often in bleu and white colors. See again:

It could also be made in Germany for example. I've myself two silver enameled brooches (if you are interested I will mail you these links but they are in my CW collection too, but there are so many items now) from Germany that could also have the same origin as yours.
Here are my two brooch iI talked ab0ut. Link nr. one is also a mystery to me, number two was stamped for Germany but with a really typical Dutch decoration and escutcheon. So very confusing in my opinion.
