    This is my grandmother's Elgin watch. Dates from early 1900s, I would think. Don't know if the case is gold or another metal. Would like to get it cleaned and adjusted.

      Gold filled or rolled gold case, you can see the base metal showing through on the corners.

      just a short note... this watch has been set up as wrist watch also, the small clasp at top would have a ribbon attached and another clasp like it on other end to attach to hole at bottom. This notion was first implemented around 1909.I have a couple smaller pocket watches , same styling and have a ribbon fob posted, I'll retrieve link for you to look at.

      open the back cover, to expose the movement and a serial # will provide jewel count. grade, production run and date of mfg. "Elgin" watches were produced in Elgin, Ill.
