Hello all. Got this knife from an estate sale. I have never seen anything like it. I believe it to be homemade and possible foreign. There are no markings on any part of it. Fully extended it measures approximately 10.5". I believe the handle is made of bone or possibly ivory. I just don't know. I believe the other bands are made of brass. Again this is an unusual knife, I don't think it is American. I have a suspicion it is from Africa or Middle East.
I was hoping a knife expert will know something about this knife. I have never seen anything like it.

Has the shape & style of the old "rachet knife" I knew in my old days in Jamaica. Does the base of the blade have notches where it can stop at diff. stages of opening?

It has no stages. It just folds out in one stage. I have other stuff that was in the same lot. There were some Moroccan stuff as well as some old Spanish stuff. Maybe one of the two? Don't really know what the handle is made from.Bone or ivory? Again I don't know. I've shown it to a lot of people and they haven't seen anything like it. Its a wonderful piece but I would love to get some info about it.

I was just curious from my experiences but things from that area just aren't "my bag". Bon chance.
