Hand painted match box ..I can't even remember when or where I got this. I like picking up little odd things at garage sales antique shops, off the beaten path places.I have had this for years. There is something about it,I'm curious as to where it may have originated from- was this a marketable skill at the time it was made..Perhaps the age of it??
It's dimensions are 1-1/2"x 2" x 1/2
Has a little aging tears on folds
Made of cardboard with strike pads on both sides
Is stamped on back the tag is partially peeled Hondu (I'd like to guess Honduras) OLEO DE ANDI ( is partially peeled here as well) with several letters that follow that I can not determine..I'm just extremely curious and wonder if anyone has any info to share on this
That's great!
Honduras is not exactly the tourist Mecca of Central Amer. & I can easily see these being made in the 80's when I was passing thru there when the CIA was trying to derail the democratic elections in Salvador & Nicaragua and the people were desperate for money.
Thank you for the interesting tidbit.. Quite a precarious time for stability and safety for the people..
