I don't have specific measurements. It appears to be about 8 inches high. It is a little boy fishing. It may be porcelain or clay or bisque. There are no markings on it. It does have a wooden base and it is in a display case that is falling apart. It was given to me by a Japanese lady who said her father had given her this when she was a little girl - 1930's. I also had a little girl, but gave it to my daughter in law when she had her first little girl. Can someone identify this type of doll for me? I am not looking for an appraisal or posting it for sale. Just curious.

Ugh! I can't remember right what these are called, BUT...this one is very unique and I know for sure, you will be amazed at the value of this little guy.

I remember...Japanese Ichimatsu Dolls yours is probably near 4 figures.
It's a keeper tho. Like I said, very unique

I believe he is a Hakata ningy? doll . They had painted eyes not always the gofun faces with glass eyes like Ichimatsu Dolls. These dolls were popular for war vets to buy . Please in my opinion his value is not in 4 figures . Google Hakata ningy? doll and you decide :-) Here is a example of one a bit newer than yours

Thank you Manikin for your kind words. I have something special to show you but still having problems uploading photos. I have contacted this site 2 times, but still no reply. I will try again with my phone but the photos will not come out as well as with my digital camera, that's if I can even do it with my phone :) I'm pretty persistent tho and I love this site so I will keep trying! Nice to meet you too!

shareurpassion, what kind of problems are you having ? If you use camera photo's I would load them to PC and then upload them so they are not upside down . I will watch for your post :-) And good luck

Hi Manikin, I have tried to do that. In fact, that's how I loaded the 2 Unsolved photos, but I had to load many times before they actually appeared. In fact, while uploading, I get a msg saying 100% complete, nothing shows tho and also I get a msg saying something about rearranging them but there is nothing there. One time I tried again and the msg said only 4 pics can be uploaded, again, there wasn't anything there??? I use picassa, windows 7 and foxfire. So I tried internet explorer, my windows 7 and windows photo gallery just to see if something would change. No change. I even went through configurations to make the photos smaller to no avail. Soooo, I have absolutely no idea and that's where I'm at. Again or still I have no reply from the help page. If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear and try them. Thank you for your time and effort!
