Hi All. I'm new here. I found this in a local, upscale NYC thriftshop and bought it for $35. The metal on the "petal" part of the flower shade is very bendable and bends easily. The neck on the lamp is rusty and made of another metal, maybe brass. The base is super-heavy and solid, like a paperweight. It's an odd piece because the neck arcs downward so the tulip shade touches the desk. Does anyone have any guesses as to what it's made of or when or where it was made? There's also a curious mark/symbol/insignia on the lamp's plug. Has anyone seen this before? It looks like a letter "S" and it has a nut/bolt sort of image in the left part of the "S". Thank you one and all for any and all considerations, questions, musings, guesses.

Welcome to CW !!
Thank you so much! Looking forward to learning more about this fascinating community. ;-)
Welcome and hello! Wow this is a doozy to start with...I have never seen something like it. Just from the switch I'd say 30s. It's supposed to lay down like that?!? Hmmmm...display piece?
Regardless it is super cool
Hi AmberRose, thank you for responding. Yes, it's a doozy! It's the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree of lamps, so quirky and weird. I'd say it's likely got a broken gooseneck which is why it lays flat. Though oddly, the wiring is still intact and the light turns on. I think you're right that it would be best as some kind of display piece. Thank you for coming by and giving this weird little lamp some love. I will check out your goodies now... <3
