This is a lovely small bangle with engravings I believe was made for a child. It is in mint condition. I found it in the junk section for $2. When I cleaned it up, it revealed the following marks:
B & B
Anchor
Lion, facing left
M
I think it is sterling, possibly made in Birmingham; however, I am not good with silver marks. I have no patience for it.
Thanks for looking:)
Thanks a lot, geo26e:)
Hi there...here's my opinion (lol, we all know what that could mean :) but I think this is white gold. I can't really tell what the hallmarks are but when it's silver, I'm pretty sure it always will have the stamp .925
Thanks a lot for your comment, shareurpassion. I wish you were correct but I am not sure because the bangle was black when I found it. I cleaned it up just like my other silver. I have also a few pieces of jewelry that are silver but don't have the number 925 or any other number. I am thinking that it also could be silver plate - but I really hope it is sterling :)
Hello freiheit,
Good find. Yes it is British Sterling Silver The M stands for 1939 and you were right it is Birmingham. The B&B has been seen on bracelets 1935-1939 but the maker has not been defined.
Thanks so much, Ladysalt, for your information. I tried to search for the silver marks but to me they all look the same.
