Picked this nice 15" Chinese vase up at Salvation Army this morning for a fiver. The black background (noire) makes the colors stand out and the design is slightly raised as well. There are ring handles that are molded into the body with a lion head holding them in his mouth. The bottom shows a stamped variant of a "Qianlong Nian Zhi " mark which was used in Hong Kong around the 60's or 70's. While I'm not 100% sure about the marks age that's what I gathered from Gotheborg's site. At any rate it's safe to say it's modern 20th century. Still it's a very pretty piece and I love vases ! -Mike-
