This is a flower trough made by Burtles & Tate in opalescent glass or Vaseline glass,( depending on where you come from.) It is 14 1/2 cm point to point, so not big. It has the registered no. 29106. B&T submitted the design for registration in 1885. It has a pattern of acorns and oak leaves around it.
The National Archives in Kew have it as a flower boat. It is mostly seen as the boat pattern, but seemingly B&T, having registered the design must have decided that the pattern in the boat could be used on other items. I have seen a photo of a curved flower trough, in much the shape of a "C", the flower boat, although hard to find is the one that turns up most frequently. (Shown in the 4th photo )
The triangle that I purchased very cheaply at an Antique Fair in 2011 is the only one I have been able to find. I have been searching the net since then hoping to find another triangle or the curved one or at least the boat (which seems to go for a high price when it does come up)
I cannot believe that since B&T are so well known that there has not been more of the 29106 designs show up. I had a few well known glass experts give me some advice, but even they had never seen or heard of one like it.
Will still keep looking and hoping.

Thank you Tallcakes. Must admit it is one of my favourite pieces. I was admiring your cake stands. I have an emerald green one that glows under black light and a clear glass one. I will eventually post a photo and hopefully you may recognise the makers as I know nothing about them other than they are elegant.

If you cannot post a photo, it should have the oak & leaf pattern in it, it will have the registered number on the glass, you have to run your finger around to feel it
And it not a big piece. I have since seen a straight trough for sale.
Hello! This might be a long shot, as this posting is ten years old, but I recently acquired this triangle in central California. I am having a hard time finding any information on this piece and also having an even harder fine figuring out how to put flowers in it! Have you learned anything new about it?
