A friend of mine rescued this shade from a thrift/junk store for a few bucks while I was at the Czech Convention this past weekend. As you can see, it has a lot going on. The store called it modern glass, but I don't think so, but would love to have opinions. It has survived in perfect shape. I have seen vases and baskets with these canes, but not a shade. Same for the threading.
beautiful!!!
Gorgeous....:-)
Beautiful ! Can you imagine what the lamp base must have looked like !
I've been a member since early 2000's, don't remember exactly when and went to a couple before that. Great people and we have a wonderful time and I found some wonderful things this year for my collection.
Thanks for the loves and comments everyone. I forgot to mention (and of course I forgot to measure), but it is just a little larger than a lot of the more common shades I have seen. Not a great deal, but seems a little. We were wondering if it could have been on a ceiling light?
Very nice...It may be Kralik.
This is just magical. Such a difference between lit and unlit, yet both beautiful. Wouldn't we all like a friend yours!
Thanks. This sure would make a nice lamp. He doesn't collect glass, but has learned enough hanging out with me to pick up a nice piece when he finds it cheap. He just found a couple other nice unusual pieces that I'll put up when he brings them over. I didn't have my camera when I was there.
Did you score any birds at the auction yesterday?
I bid on some glass, but too rich for my blood :)
I did. Actually all the birds with the RDM. I scored some glass as well, but not the high end stuff. You seem to know me, but are you someone I should know?
Kyle... just a different screen name.
I had a feeling you'd be snatching them up...they seemed to be a much better deal than most the glass. Speaking of "birds"...did you see the loetz swan they were selling with the modern art glass? Thought I had a shot since it was listed as studio glass....boy was I ever wrong!
