Just another interesting piece from Sampson Mordan in my collection, a hobnail cut silver and Porcupine quill dip pen. Designed so a variety of different size nibs will fit.
Approx 8.5 inches long.
One for Steve (our self confessed Sampson Mordan fanatic)
No, I don't have a copy of that catalogue. I'll certainly look out for a copy of it, it's interesting you say it's possibly part of a set, I'll keep my eyes pealed for the pencil.
Hi Steve,
What you say is absolutely correct the catalogue is a little hard to come by at the moment. And the fact that very few (if any) records of Mordans work are available thanks to those pesky Germans, make finding a new unrecorded piece all the better.
In case anyone is interested there are a few searches you can do on the Espacenet site. This gives some details of patents applied for my Sampson Mordan & Co. But as with many of these documents the only valuable information is held on hard copy.
Additionally many of the patents were logged against the inventor and not the company, it would be interesting to find a list of employees and search through their names.
Thanks Mark
