I really love the colors of the landscape with the grey and the white separate by the clear purple, it look very sweet.

Idcloisonne, it is silverplate, but on spelter! You can see the base metal on pic 2 where is a break on the lid.
Your right Kyrantango, its "spelter" but i'm not sure it is silverplate because there is no the tarnish typical of the silver. Maybe just a grey patina ?
Have a look to this one, close pictures of the metal mount, they were mostly in that metal, who knows why!

Yes idcloisonne, it's a shame... And these mounts are so often worn or broken due to this material, can't understand why they didn't use quality silverplate!
