Verreries and Cristalleries of Saint-Denis, Legras and Cie
This is, I think, the masterpiece of my collection.
It's a pair of vase "Chateauroux". Clear and sweet green glass handpainting with enamel and showing two differents scenes with characters of the XVIII century. A city couple and a campaign couple. This scenes are surrounded by a big "rocaille " pattern handpainting with gold enamel.
H= 25cm
C 1899-1900
This vases are exceptional because of the handpainting decor and their delicacy. This serie is very rare, i just saw a little vase with the same decor last year but I never saw another one.
Maybe this serie was show at the Exposition Universelle of Paris in 1900.
Legras' factory is best know as a cheapest factory contrary to Daum or Gallé but this vases were made for rich people. And because of that they were very expensive (the price of one "chateauroux" vase is the same that 6 classical vases)
Just so bright and pretty!
so beautiful
