This what I think is a water jug was found at the recycle centre for £1 , I had to have it even though the handle has been broken off and poorly stuck back on !!! I Think this is a beautifully shaped and transfer painted jug , it stands 10" high x 6.5" round ..
it is marked on the base as pictured looks like a building with a large chimney but has been rubbed a little so no writing it has also been stamped into the clay "R" & "1" & an "n" written in a burnt red colour.
I dont know where its from origionally as some of the patterns are like chinese patterns some like English ones some ive seen on spanish/ european pots..thanks to maryh for the i-d ?? Does anyone recognise the marks???

Looks Portuguese to me, or maybe French - Porcelaine de Gien have used a version of a towered building since the mid 19th century, so that is a possibility, however you mark is faded. Can you seen any lettering at the bottom of the mark where there was a banner, or initials in the centre?

Here’s a similar Gien piece that had been listed on eBay in your neck of the woods

You're welcome. I'm in our condo in Chicago, but our tenant moved out and took our router, so we have no wifi. My hubby doesn't want to buy another. I need to get rid of my flip phone and get a smart phone because I'm having CW withdrawal.! Went up to the 21st floor lounge for free wifi

Chicago!!!!!! Aint it known as the windy city?? Is a condo like an apartment or flat?? Sounds like you get a good view at 21 floors high, dont think weve got anything that high over here!!
Smart phones are good ive an iphone 4s nearly ready to upgrade but normally use my 7" samsung tablet or laptop for wifi as its bigger ....
      thanx sd
      good luck finding another tennant..

It is essentially a flat, referred to as a condo when you own it and there are maintenance fees for the building it’s in, it’s called an apartment when you rent. We’re on the 14th floor. The lounge is on the 21st floor, but there is an awesome rooftop deck with great views of the city and lake Michigan. Unfortunately I’m afraid of heights so don’t go up there! My hubby and I love Chicago, and if he could get a job there, we would move and sell our house in Maryland. Winters are rough up there though, but the city is well equipped for the snow and pavements & roads are cleared pretty quickly. I’m sure you don’t see much snow where you are?

Hi maryh..Sounds like a great place!! I do like a view!
We dont get enough snow down here , none last winter! Had a couple of foot of snow a two years ago for christmas but we missed it as on holiday in tenerife for the two weeks..
love the snow as my wrangler jeep goes almost anywhere!
When it snows here a couple of inches seems to bring the country to a stand still!!
