You can see the photo of the original stove in my Royal Orbon Cast Iron Cook Stove folder. I do not know if the assembly screws are original, but many screws were severely deteriorated and I decided to cut them off rather than attempt to loosen them. It would be nice to have original screws but I feel more comfortable replacing them. There were a few screws that were obviously replaced. I plan on reassembling this stove and use it outdoors and possibly at cast iron cookouts.
Photo #1: I took a photo of the stove's expanded view to help me when I reassemble it.
Photo three depicts an area where the iron was in two pieces and cracked almost through a third.
Uh, what was the question?LOL
Can the casting mold gate marks on stoves be an accurate way to estimate the manufacture date?
Here is an update - I am heart broken. I had envisioned placing this stove where my cast chimenea is- this would make a much better conversation piece. I inspected every piece and welded the broken and cracked pieces. I assembled the stove with love, cementing every piece. I loaded it onto my tractor so I could place it at the desired location when it fell to the ground. So many pieces are broken and I am finished. I spent so much time on this stove and I cannot envision continuing any further. It was a nice experience. Next time, I will tie it down so it will not fall.
that's a bummer....
Thanks Roy.
Hate to see you quit as it looks like a great stove & you had good plans for it's use.
Blunderbuss2- Thanks, I am emotionally spent. The stove is small enough to be a novelty item that is portable. I wanted to make a wheeled cart for it. I even thought about using it for demonstrating cast iron cooking at some of the local cast iron cooking outings. The stove was originally cracked in four areas with a major break in another. Now it is probably broken in ten places, but none of my welds broke, yeah baby! I may throw a tarp over it and see if I get inspired later but I doubt it.
I was going to suggest waiting before making any decisions. Your heart may return to it. Too nice to just forget.
Blunderbuss2- The more time that passes the more I think I will try to salvage it. I am going to put it somewhere for another time. Thanks for the encouragement.
