This was the prize for today from GW. It was way over budget, but I had to have it. In 1923 Brush McCoy introduced their Art Vellum line. Simple shapes in soft color matte glazes of green. blue and brown resembling ancient parchment. This 5" x 6" ear handled "deco" style vase is design #716. It's glazed in a mottled (Fawn) matte green finish. Most of the early J.W. McCoy pottery, Brush McCoy, was not marked. Some items have only an impressed shape number. There are quite a few examples online and none are marked but the shapes and colors are well documented so there's no question as to who made it. A very nice piece of "art deco" period pottery and it's in perfect condition. -Mike-
and I really like your profile picture ...smiling
lol.....Thanks Roy..... It's from one of the cat litter commercials (Cat's Pride?). The cats are suppose to be at a spa. He's getting a massage but it looks more like CPR..lol. I have an orange cat like the one in the picture I thought the commercials were hilarious.
It is awesome! I've had a few of these that I fostered for a while...
Thanks Weirdpuckett :)......Oh yes they do, especially the one in the Cleveland area. I wasn't sure what this was either. I was thinking Weller at first because of the price and color. When I was there today, everything I liked was in the display case priced at retail or on Facebook . I still don't know how they do that. I can never seem to find it on Facebook. I'll wait until the prices drop at the end of the week if things are still there. I've been lucky a few times by holding out....lol
Hi Mike. Its gorgeous, lucky you knew who it was by, with no marks i bet not many people would recognise it.
Thanks Fran :)...well the GW did, and it wasn't cheap...lol At first I thought Weller but McCoy was in mind too.
