Any info on what this is made of etc. would be very helpful.

This brooch is carved in relief and on a honey coloured backing. My research tells me it could be amber or honey celluloid. It looks like a bird with head and beak at the top. If the 1st image is enlarged there appears to be some letters above the bird. I only managed to see them by the image on camera. Because of the translucent material it seems impossible to see the letters, if that is what they are, by a magnifier. The brooch is quite heavy and is a little over 2in long. The clasp fastens with a v shape for the pin and there is a hook where a safety chain was once fastened. I found it in a charity shop and have not seen anything like it before.
