I picked up this brown speckled pottery (stoneware) pot at an auction. I was fasinated by the shape and curious about how it's supposed to function. Inside is a plastic tube that links one of the holes to another. I believe it's purpose was to create perpetual water circulating. There are no markings as to the pottery. Can anyone help identify it?

Lovely water feature. I would like to hear it. You may find the sound as pleasing as the sight.

Thank you, Lisa-lighting. The more I look at the piece, the more I like it. I've done much research and I'm starting to believe it must be the only one.

**Wonder IF it is just the top part of a table top water fountain (eg missing a base??) as it is very beautiful now as just a piece of Art.

If it has holes in it for water to come through, it must have a water fountain piece at one time, IMHO...

Something like this is what I mean???

It is a thought, antiquerose. It looks as though it is a stand-alone piece though because it has a finished and covered bottom. No markings unfortunately. I appreciate the photo. The top has some similarity. That might be a further avenue of research. Thank you. Artists often maintain a similar style throughout their pieces.
