      IT IS THE BOTTOM OF A HUMIDIFIER. THE NOTCH IS FOR CORD AND HOLE IS VAPOR ESCAPE. I HAVE SAME ONE IN ENTIRE...DOE'S MAKE GREAT PLANTER BUT AS A HUMIDIFIER IT IS AMAZING...

      Congero is correct, it's part of a humidifier. Ceramic portion produced by Zanesville Stoneware Co.
