IT IS THE BOTTOM OF A HUMIDIFIER. THE NOTCH IS FOR CORD AND HOLE IS VAPOR ESCAPE. I HAVE SAME ONE IN ENTIRE...DOE'S MAKE GREAT PLANTER BUT AS A HUMIDIFIER IT IS AMAZING...
