I acquired this coin at an Estate Sale and later noticed a very odd mintmark. Would this be considered an error coin? And what category would it be recognized as? Being that the coin has a domestic and foreign notations I'm not sure if the it is a U. S. or Philippine coin. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks<><><>

During WWII, Philippine coins dated 1944 & 1945 were minted at the U.S. Mints. Your "S" mintmark was minted in San Francisco - there were almost 73 million minted of the (5) Centavo denomination. It is possible you have a die-break on the mintmark but I cannot expand your pictures - the mintmark may have been damaged while in circulation. The composition is a copper-nickel alloy.

Aghcollect, I have a 1917 "FILIPINAS" 20 centavos U.S. coin that you can have. Well worn but clear lettering & outline of images. Probably cost me more to mail than it is worth at $3.85? Well I've made the offer or I give it to a friend who makes jewelry for the silver.

Sorry, I cannot confirm it is a diebreak from a photo.
