The coloring and design of this jar was so unique that it had my attention right away. The design has depth to it, it's not painted on. The markings on the bottom intensified my curiosity about it. Celadon stoneware began during the Five Dynasties (907-960). The marking most likely reads: Zhong Guo Longquan -"China Longquan", referring to the Longquan kilns in Zhejiang Province . These kilns are famous for celadon porcelain and is the most valued. According to the information I found, this jar is most likely late 20th century modern ware.

There is a lot of fake Asian porcelain in circulation and this could be one for all I know. I may have an excellent find or a very pretty jar that isn't worth much money, but still very nice to look at. Purchased for $1.99 at a thrift shop, it's a winner either way.

I found a vase at a tag sale with the same markings and ran across your post. My Korean friend (who can read Chinese) say the markings are:
? dragon ? origin, ancestor, ancestral shrine, etc ?? china :)
You read it from top to bottom, right to left.
So it's definitely Chinese Celadon...not sure if the words for "dragon/origin, ancestor" are what's used to represent Longquan or not. Good luck on your search!
