According to the maker's mark, if I'm correct, this appears to be the work of a famous British potter, Joanna Constantinidis, (1927-2000). She trained at the Sheffield College of Art, and taught at the Chelmsford School of Art. Her pottery is displayed in museums in the UK.
This piece was unique in it's coloring and shape and I thought it may be worth more that the few dollars it cost. I was still suprised when I found that she was a famous potter in the UK and her pieces fetch a fair price.
Sorry to disappoint but I don't think this was made by Joanna Constantinidis. The pitcher looks to be slip cast and nothing like any piece of pottery I have seen made by her. The makers mark on your pitcher although similar to Joanna's is not quite the same - her early work was marked with J and C entwined and later a very plain C in a circle - if you look carefully your C is thicker at the start of the letter, Joanna's was a constant thickness. I don't recall her using a raised seal, her mark was always impressed. I was very fortunate to be a student of hers at the Chelmsford School of Art and at 75 I'm still potting!
