    They are wooden and about 3" tall. They are also egg-shaped. They are in a nice wooden box with writing on the top (last picture). Thanks!

      From Japan, shingata kokeshi, or creative small wood dolls come from Northern Japan. The creative part allows the artist to stray from traditional kokeshi design.

      I would say just a retail value as they are new in box as a decor item. Kinda common, I know four stores that sell these in town.

      Hi Jerit, beautiful sert, these are Hina Kokeshi as TubeAmp mentioned they are commonly given as gifts for Girl's Day (Hina Matsuri) and weddings. Some are more valuable than others depending on whom the artist is (a quick e-bay search will give you an idea of what they can go for). The male doll (odairisama) wears a hat and holds a sceptre (shaku), while the female doll typically wears a crown and holds a fan. Like these they are wood painted with lacquer. -Soul
