    HI I got this from the UK an estate sale I have NO idea if it is Chinese or Japanese... any help greatly appreciated. Very heavy piece, beautiful texture and raised characters. bottom has partial impressed characters, signature no doubt. THANKS!

      thanks...that was my thought. somebody put a similar item on ebay and called it Japanese... but I am stumped.

      OK just showed this to a Korean friend SHE says that is CHINESE. yay mystery solved. BUT I don't know date...

      you mean to decipher the characters? ugh... they are very stylized. I think I will take it to my neighborhood Chinese rest. She has translated something in the past for me... I do like that website but this one is so unusual...
