You all know how I like the orange, so when I spotted this pretty in a very dirty garage (at a garage sale, not some random garage!) I zipped over for the swoop.
The design is that painted enamel/metal. I can read the bottom and know that it's Czech, but...do you know how many Czech vases there are out there??? A zillion. And everyone has a different opinion on what it is.
Therefore, glass gang, this is your second challenge! Although I am going to guess this one is easier than that lavender pretty I just posted.
Good luck and may the thrift gods smile upon your hunt!
Knew that too Eye!!! Hee hee, I am swimming in your pool while you are at work!
Love to see that mark!
The decoration of these pieces was probably done in the northern areas of Czechoslovakia by a number of companies. Karel Palda is one of the better known firms that did this type enamel decoration, Ernst Hantich another.
In the Jitka Lnenickova exhibition of Tango Sklo she has similar examples in a cabinet with attributions to the Ceska Lipa Region: Kamenicky Senov (Steinschoenau) and Novy Bor (Haida).
Give me a break!
What I like is the mottled orange/red background......That is a bit different, I think. Let's see what the others say!
You have the best eye, eye!
Wow! I'm on pins and needles! Sean said tango and I naysayed! Ooooohhhhh. Apparently this very old/falling down house was being moved out of. They have had a sale for the last two weeks. Emptying out the basement this weekend. The guy said they moved a TON of stuff. I also got a potential Lisa Larson, but what did I miss!!!
Thank you so much for the help and loves!
I yaysayed!
Hahaha, you just crack me up V
Now we all yaysay!
Czechman, been waiting for you...thanks!
Hahahaha, top form!
its stunning!!
I like orange too, the color of our Royal Family (House of Orange) You see this color often at the moment at the world cup football. Where the Dutch are it is orange!
This is the first time I have ever seen folks here in the States, well here in Chicago, all fired up and into the World Cup. We even have it up on huge game parties on a huge screen in Milenium Park.
Thank you all for the loves, sleuthing, excitement and sharing the need for that pop of orange.
Unusual tango. Most black enamelled stuff seems to be one colour, not a spatter. there are some links to the exhibitions that Vetraio mentions stuck away on here somewhere.
Wow! Love this a lot....
Great tango vase...well done!....:-)
What a beautiful vase! I love the color and style.
