I was given these letter openers many years ago by a friend who was retiring from work and he knew that I collected daggers and bayonets.
The opener is 8" (200mm) long and, as you can clearly seee, are in the shape of swords with a flower emblem at the base of the hilt.
I have been trying for the last few months to ascertain the origin, if genuine, the crest that is at the top. Any help would be gratefully received.
Both sides are exactly the same. I do not know if they had scabbards at one time, but I have never had them.
The spiral hand grip is very similar to those found on World War 2 German daggers, and I would like the crest to be of German origin, but I do not know.
If you can help, then that would be great or if you know of a website that would be worth looking at.
I want to add these to my database with as much information as possible.
Thanks for any help
I think you are right on the WWII daggers. Too close to be coincidence.
