This Plastic Mr. Peanut item is about 8.5CM (3 7/8 inches) tall, and shows very little signs of wear. It's issue date is no later than the 50s.
The item itself can be called a whistle, but from its mechanics, it looks and sounds more like a siren. The siren sound still is quite loud.
These cool old things are really interesting!

Did these hang from a lanyard?
Hi, Racer4four…thanks for the love, comment and question. I think that these did hang from a lanyard, as there is a loop for attachment at the bottom of the figure.
This was the first one that I've seen of this type.
You got these for sending in wrappers and money for postage. You should have seen the others on eBay. The larger items like drinking cups gained value but the smaller items never really took off.
