Just showing the pendant, but I have the original chain. Marked 18K gold and I believe it is from the mid 1800's. I inherited this piece and have worn it a few times. The middle stone is a beautiful yellow. I have never had it appraised and would like to know if it is citrine.

Lovely necklace! I don't know about the stone but this necklace has the Swedish silvermarks. If I read it correctly it has the makersmark OK (probably O Kristensen in Malmö) the Swedish 3 krowns mark and I7 which is the yearmark for 1911. In Sweden most old filigree was made of silver this way, but the stone makes it even more special because I haven't seen one with stones like this before. Very lovely!!
The townmark looks like Kristianstad when I have a closer look. Still Sweden and I still think it's that maker who later registered in Malmö (close by) 1913-1938.
Thank you Elisabethan! I'm glad you could see the hallmark. The mark after the crowns is a mark that is a capital G with a dot over it. Is that the gold content? It is a more delicate design. But I don't know what the pierced coils are called. Sweden makes sense since the family immigrated from Sweden.
Hello Behrinmind, you're welcome! If this piece is silver which I suspect the first mark is the makersmark then you have the 3 crowns mark that is the Swedish controllmark for fine metalls (it was used until 1988). Then you have the townmark that i thought was a c with a Crown but if it's a G with a Crown it means Gothenburg (Göteborg). Then you have I7 which means 1911 (we have a system for that with marks for 1759 and after and I7 is 1911) this will be the same for gold and silver. If it's Göteborg then I can't find a maker with those initials but if the pendant is gold then I wonder if the first mark is the goldmark, does it actually say 20K and not OK? Gold is marked 18K, 23K etc.
Do you know when you're left from here to go to their new country? Where they from around Gothenburg? Does this add upp? I hope I'm not confusing you now. If the piece is before 1759 and made in Gothenburg it looks like it would only have a letter like I, not I7. :-)

And... :-) the coils are made in a style called filigree.
I believe my great grandfather born in Sweden in 1862 and came to the US in 1882 and his wife in 1886.
I added a closer picture of the mark. It does say 17. I believe the other mark is a g with a crown. I saw in a book that the filigree part was also named flower heads.
Is it 17 or I7? If it's 17 then I have no idea. I which I had some books on older marks, you thought this was mid 1800th? In my country that means around 1850 but in England it means 1750 I think, what did you mean? It bothers me a bit that your relatives came over there in 1882, is this necklace older? Meny immigrants never returned. But I guess it could have been sent to them or they might have bought it in America from someone from Sweden? It's still a very beautiful necklace even if it's not very very old.
