    found in western north Carolina. the four holes on the outside do not go all the way thru and it appears to have/had some kinda animal glue.
    the round cuped holes go thru and it appears that the cupped area is burnt. Mabye from something hot being placed on or friction from something turning in those holes. I had sent a pic to roy underhill from pbs wood wright. He didn't know

      The "dead-eye" holes might be for the supports/legs for a next shelf. The 3 depressions with holes may be for potted plants & the holes drain overflow.
