Well here are some more pictures from the beautiful yet rather mysterious trunk I had posted a while back here. (http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/125419-unknown-potential-beauty?in=1169)
I asked for pictures of the hinges to help with the ID. Any thoughts ? What is that thing on the 3rd picture ?
The original key is also included. The asking price is rather hefty though and I'm reluctant to invest that much if it's not a 'sought after' brand. In any case, a gorgeous trunk!
Thanks again
The third picture is an interior tray bracket used to hold the tray up into the lid allowing access to the lower trunk. I have a round top (some call them monitors ) trunk with similar hardware. This is a very desirable trunk due to the many bells
and whistles. It has all of them. Extensive nail work ,heavy cast hard ware. top trays
intact. Value and beauty are in the eye of the beholder as they say. As to sought after
brands?I drift toward styles myself. With pat dates of 1866 You won't find many like this. You are right a gorgeous trunk .Good luck in your decision.
