Picked this up at GW this morning. Not that green is my favorite color it's a step above yellow though. I'm more of a red, purple, blue person. It did however stand out from all the other "yawners" in the case. I guess you could call it a floral form or starburst and it's roughly 2" across. It appears to have been soldered and hand assembled, A little irregular in shape , not quite symmetrical. Not sure if the stones are glass or maybe czech crystal. It does show some surface wear on the emerald stones. One tiny pale green stone is missing in the center as well. Feels heavy in hand so I figure it's a nice vintage piece. -Mike-

It is a nice piece indeed. I love a brooch - wear one nearly every day!

I hope you and Nuts don't live in the same area - you seem to be moving in on his turf! Watch out - Ken may seem polite but it's the genteel ones that can turn fast!!!

Thanks Karen :).....lol.....well we both live in the same state but about 30 miles away from each other. It's possible we shop the same places but I pretty much stay in my own backyard. Where he's the serious collector, I'm more spur of the moment about it. I'll have to admit collecting jewelry is a lot easier on spatial constraints .

I love i!—then again I’m very partial to green rhinestones. You might try putting it under black light to see if the peridot stones fluoresce. They could be uranium glass—which would put this at lo later than the sixties and very possibly a decade earlier.

*no later than the sixties (correction to typo)

Thanks for the comment and the info rhineisfine. Never thought about uranium glass so I tried it. YES! all the faux peridot glow like a traffic light ! :)

mikelv85, thanks for checking! It's always interesting to know when a piece of jewellery contains uranium glass, I think. It's like a delightful secret that only you know about. Reminds me of when I was a kid and used to pass notes written in invisible ink (well, lemon juice); there's that same excitement of discovering something magical that wasn't visible to the naked eye.
