I inherited this from my grandmother (born in 1905) and it came from my great grandmother.
Before the '94 earthquake it had a copper stand that held a tiny "spirit lamp" or alcohol burner but it was crushed when the cabinet fell over. The teapot rolled free and suffered only a couple of tiny dents.
For years I did not know what was stamped on the bottom of the pot because there was a black, carbonized deposit from the many decades this teapot had been set over a flame to keep the tea warm.
After cleaning I found the Gorham mark with anchor and the date stamp "N" for 1881.
