Balouch Animal Band

This was another gift from the Piper Cub owner and his beautiful Daughter. So generous, these two. A truly wonderful experience. This is a animal band from The Balouch. The embroidery and the use of a shell, especially if it is a white cowrie shell, indicates an origin in the Pakistani province of Belouchistan.There is only one text book on the people and weaving from this area and it is the work of a Hungarian, M. G. Konieczny, who was a United Nations worker and who lived and worked there for 20 years from 1950. This is so amazing. This piece seems to tell a story of sorts with all of the trinkets sewn onto it. This is all I know of this rug. If any body has further comments or thoughts, please write to me.
